Production Positions

Production Designer

About the Position

Production designers collaborate with an award-winning team to bring a creative eye to advertising and marketing campaigns, long-term projects and promotional materials.

The production designer position involves creating advertisements for clients, designing for the Daily Cal’s promotional materials and participating in ongoing creative projects such as the Food and Drink Guide and the Media Kit, or working on client work as part of the INK Branding Agency.

Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign is preferred. We are looking for innovative designers with new ideas about how to use design to best reach our readers and advertisers.

**Applicants should be aware that this position differs from the editorial positions of illustrator, layout designer, graphic artist and social media designer in both the scope of projects and team environment.

Application Materials

  • Resume (PDF, about one page in length)
  • Portfolio (link or PDF)
  • Interview (invitation only)

Work Requirements

  • Three to four hours per week
  • Regular meetings to discuss updates on long-term projects
  • Contributing to long-term marketing/advertising projects
    • Reduced workload option: The Daily Cal understands that some applicants may have disabilities and/ or extenuating circumstances that would prevent them from working a full workload, such as a necessary, paying job that takes up a significant amount of time outside of classes. If this is the case, applicants may choose to apply for a reduced workload position.

Leadership Opportunities
